The painting uses a distingush technique to characterizing the subject. It required using a narrow field of view, similar in photography to emphasize the main subject and soften other elements. Within the painting March, Van Tich overlapped numerous layers of gold, then grinded deeply to reveal the details and create smooth, elegant waves on the petals.
